Activities PictureActivities

The mission of the Activities Department at MVNRC is to provide our residents with opportunities encouraging socialization, physical and intellectual stimulation, and personal growth.

Activities Favorites

Activities PictureActivities are planned for various group sizes, abilities and interest levels. For some residents, a friendly visit brightens a day; others may eagerly anticipate large group activities. Popular activities include performances by guest musicians and children, ice cream socials, monthly birthday parties and, the all-time favorite, BINGO!

Family members are always encouraged to participate with their resident. In fact, many of our most dedicated volunteers got "hooked" while accompanying their resident to activities events. Our wonderful volunteer corps lends extra energy, enthusiasm and creativity to our programs.

Donald J. Marshall

Donald was born January 14, 1923 in Pheatown, Tennessee. After his mother passed away in January of 1933, he raised his brother and two sisters. In October of 1939, Donald joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and spent two and a half years in the state of Oregon. In June of 1941, he was drafted into the Army and served 26 months in the South Pacific. In December of 1945, he came home and married the woman who had been waiting for him for three years. Donald was married for 27 years until his wife passed away in 1973. He remarried in 1973 to a wonderful woman and has been married to her for 31 years.

Donald gave his heart to Jesus over five years ago and he belongs to the United Methodist Church. He has been visiting residents at MVNRC for over three years and the residents look forward to his visits. He enjoys spreading the Word of God and praying with the residents. He also visits friends in the community and works in his local church. Donald says, "I thank God every day for my life and I try to live as Jesus Christ did."
